Unbelievable!! Why Police Bodyguards Assigned To Bobi Wine Were Arrested – Shocking Secrets Leak
Counter terrorism police l officers assigned to guard National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate in the 2026 presidential campaigns have been arrested, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has said.
The police officers are said to have been arrested sometime this week, and are reportedly being detained at Railway Police Station in Kampala.
They are said to be detained on charges of disobeying lawful orders and of withdrawing from work without permission, according to reports.
Bobi Wine suspects the police officers were “targeted for doing their job with professionalism and patriotism.”
He says there has been a trend of quizzing police officers assigned to him on issues like NUP funding sources.
“In the 2021 election, the police officers who were attached to our campaign were attacked violently and subjected to all manner of brutality. After the election, several of them including their head, Afande Kato were arrested and detained for a long period. We learnt that they were questioned about our sources of funding, who I was meeting, what our plans were, etc. They were also interrogated about why they always sought to protect us from violent attacks by other sections of the police and military,” wrote Bobi Wine.
“Now, 2026, we have learnt that the officers who were attached to our campaign have also been arrested, and are being interrogated. These officers are usually targeted for doing their job with professionalism and patriotism. May we all stand in solidarity with them, and work for their freedom.”

However, as of the time of writing, there has been no official confirmation from the Uganda Police Force regarding the alleged arrests. Authorities have not publicly commented on whether any officers assigned to the opposition figure’s security detail were detained or questioned.
Robert Kyagulanyi, widely known by his stage name Bobi Wine, is a prominent opposition politician and the leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP). During the 2021 presidential elections, he challenged long-time incumbent President Yoweri Museveni in a race that was marked by heightened political tensions, heavy security deployment, and widespread scrutiny from local and international observers.
Security arrangements surrounding opposition leaders have been a recurring topic in Ugandan politics. In the past, there have been disputes over the level of protection provided to opposition figures, as well as allegations of surveillance or restrictions placed on their movements. These issues often generate strong reactions both from political supporters and civil society organizations concerned with civil liberties and political rights.
The claim made in the social media post has therefore fueled speculation about possible internal investigations or disciplinary actions within security agencies. Some users responding to the post questioned the accuracy of the information, while others expressed concern about the potential implications for police officers who may have been involved in providing security during political campaigns.

Political analysts note that social media has become a major platform for the rapid spread of political information—and sometimes misinformation—in Uganda and across the region. Posts by influential accounts can quickly shape public discourse, even before official statements or verified reports are released.
Without confirmation from police authorities or other official sources, it remains unclear whether the alleged arrests took place or what circumstances may have led to such action. Observers say further clarification from the Uganda Police Force would be necessary to verify the claims and provide context.
In the meantime, the online discussion highlights the continuing sensitivity surrounding security, politics, and freedom of expression in Uganda’s political landscape.
