Barbie Kyagulanyi Goes Into Exile After Alleged Harassment From UPDF Commandos

Unverified information circulating widely on social media platforms claims that Barbie Kyagulanyi, the wife of former presidential contender and National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, may have left Uganda under unclear circumstances.

According to these online reports, Barbie Kyagulanyi is said to have departed the country shortly after she was discharged from Nsambya Hospital. Her reported exit allegedly followed an incident in which unknown individuals broke into the family’s residence in Magere, raising concerns about her personal safety.

Social media sources further allege that her departure was conducted discreetly, with claims suggesting that she traveled abroad for what has been described as protective or “safe custody” reasons.

While no official confirmation has been issued, several reports indicate that she is believed to be currently in the United States of America.

The same unverified accounts suggest that Barbie Kyagulanyi is expected to reunite with her children, who are alleged to have traveled out of the country earlier, reportedly ahead of the recent election period.

These claims have continued to attract public attention, particularly among supporters and political observers.

This reported development comes amid heightened political tension, as Bobi Wine himself is said to be in hiding. Online reports allege that security agencies are searching for him in connection with matters that have not been publicly disclosed, further intensifying speculation surrounding the family’s situation.

Meanwhile, there are claims that security has been reinforced around Bobi Wine’s residence in Magere, located in Kasangati, Wakiso District. Allegedly involving both the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and the Uganda Police Force, the increased security presence has fueled public debate and concern over the safety of the Kyagulanyi family and the broader political climate.

As of the time of publishing, neither Barbie Kyagulanyi nor the leadership of the National Unity Platform has released an official statement to verify or dismiss these claims. The absence of formal communication has left the reports unconfirmed, with many awaiting clarification from the concerned parties.
