Breaking!! Muhoozi Orders For Fresh DNA Tests On Kafeero’s Children Abroad After Public Outcry

The long-running dispute over the biological children of late Kadongo Kamu legend Paul Job Kafeero could take a new turn after the Minister of Local Government, Balaam Barugahara, announced plans for confirmatory DNA tests to be conducted abroad following widespread public criticism of the recently released results.

Barugahara said the Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, had committed to supporting additional forensic tests in either South Africa or the United Kingdom in a bid to conclusively settle the matter.

In a post published on X, Barugahara thanked members of the public who had raised concerns about the outcome of the initial DNA exercise and revealed that discussions were underway to have the samples re-examined in internationally recognised laboratories.

“To the Public, thank you for your concern especially Mama Fiina, Gen Ssejusa and many others! With help from General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, we shall send the samples to South Africa or UK for confirmatory test and that will be done soon,” Barugahara wrote.

The minister attached a video message from renowned traditional healer and social activist Sylvia Namutebi, popularly known as Mama Fiina, who appealed for fresh tests to be conducted outside Uganda.

In the video, Mama Fiina argued that additional tests carried out in more technologically advanced laboratories would help eliminate lingering doubts surrounding the paternity findings.

She specifically proposed that samples be sent to laboratories in South Africa, the United Kingdom or India, saying such an exercise would reassure the affected families and restore public confidence in the process.

Mama Fiina also warned that failure to address concerns raised by some of the claimants could leave several families emotionally distressed, given the sensitivity of the issue.

The call for confirmatory tests follows intense public debate sparked by DNA results released on June 25, 2026, which established that only four of the 25 individuals who claimed to be Kafeero’s biological children were genetically related to the late musician.

The results were unveiled at the Uganda Police headquarters in Naguru by officials from the Government Analytical Laboratory and the Uganda Police Forensic Services Laboratory. The tests followed a court order authorising the exhumation of Kafeero’s remains to obtain DNA samples.

According to the findings, only Thomas Kafeero Schwarzenegger, Simon Peter Kafeero, Benedicto Kafeero and Elizabeth Nagawa were confirmed as biological children of the late singer.

The remaining 21 claimants were excluded by the forensic analysis.

The findings triggered emotional scenes, with several unsuccessful claimants reportedly breaking down upon learning the results. Some immediately questioned the outcome and insisted that they had always known Kafeero as their biological father.

Among prominent figures expressing reservations about the results was Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa, who suggested that other members of Kafeero’s extended family should also undergo DNA testing.

Tayebwa argued that some of the individuals who failed the tests bore striking physical similarities to the late musician, raising questions that, in his view, warranted further scientific examination.

Former military intelligence chief David Sejusa, commonly known as Gen Sejusa, also reportedly expressed doubts regarding the findings.

However, Barugahara has strongly defended the integrity of the initial exercise, maintaining that the process adhered to scientific standards and that three independent laboratories reached the same conclusions.

Kafeero, widely regarded as one of Uganda’s greatest Kadongo Kamu musicians, died in 2007 without leaving behind a written will. Since his death, disputes over his estate and the identity of his biological children have persisted for nearly two decades.

The disagreements eventually resulted in legal proceedings that culminated in a court-sanctioned exhumation and DNA analysis aimed at resolving the succession dispute.

Should the proposed overseas tests proceed, analysts believe the fresh forensic examination could either validate the initial findings or reopen one of Uganda’s most closely watched inheritance battles.

For many of Kafeero’s relatives and admirers, the anticipated confirmatory tests may represent the final opportunity to conclusively determine the true beneficiaries of the late musician’s estate.
