PROFILE: Meet Amon Bagonza aka DPC, the aspiring KCCA Speaker

Bagonza Amon famously known by his alias DPC is a Makerere University graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial and Fine Art which he attained in May 2021, and he thereafter enrolled for Community Psychology which he is still pursuing.

Bagonza, a patriot and political enthusiast has just won himself the Lord Councillor for Makerere University under the ruling National Resistance Movement party which he has wholeheartedly and religiously supported right from his days at Makerere University. Currently, Bagonza is eyeing the position of Speaker at the Kampala Capital City Authority. He intends to rival anyone that the opposition National Unity Platform party will front for the seat.

Banking on his passion for Industrial and Fine Art, Bagonza has a grand master plan for the urban Kampala drainage project as he intends to refurbish and rehabilitate the channel, and upgrade it with a modern railway system.

“If elected as Speaker KCCA, I will liaise with Chinese funders and investors to help build for us a fully functional railway network to curb the traffic congestion and also improve on our productivity,” he remarked at the launch of his agenda in February this year. “We will make use of this space and employ our youths on top of beautifying our city,” he added.

DPC is relying on his inclusive and hospitable character to woo opposition Lord Councillors of NUP. He says as the elected Speaker, he will serve beyond party colors and be an inclusive leader who will not be blurred by party colors. The race for city hall remains a significant issue that will be a two horse raise between the opposition NUP which has the majority but with a small margin of 2 versus the NRM party.
