NUP supporters ask EMC to replace Nabbosa with Bitaano after Baba TV interview

Supporters of the National Unity Platform party in Mityana district have appealed to the Makerere Kavule based Election Management Committee officials to reconsider their decision of declaring Prossy Mukisa Nabbosa as the woman Member of Parliament.

The call follows a barrage of criticism that has been bombarded on Nabbosa in the aftermath of her Baba TV interview where she openly exposed her intellectual disabilities by failing to answer just basic questions relating to the roles of a Member of Parliament. Staunch party supporters have expressed disgust with the poor quality of legislation that Nabbosa intends to bring on board.

Centre for Constitutional Governance chief Dr. Sarah Bireete had this to say via her X platform.

”The voters should send the right people for the job of MPs as prescribed in Article 79 of the Constitution! Political parties have let Uganda down when it comes to quality of leaders. Individual merit did much better than most political parties!,” she posted on X.

The controversial Thursday Baba TV interview has become a subject of ridicule that has questioned the integrity of the NUP party EMC in as far as producing the right quality of legislators is concerned. Many commentators are still alarmed with how the party spared a well oriented Makindye woman Lord Councillor in Nalubega Fausta Bitaano to go for a novice in Prossy Mukisa Nabbosa, a TikTok celebrity famed for her soap operas.

This publication is fully aware that MP Zaake’s father, Mr. Butebi Emmanuel Ssembuusi is the face behind the nomination of Nabbosa having reportedly bribed some EMC officials with UGX 70 million. Other reliable sources say Nabbosa is MP Zaake Francis’ side chick and it is believed that his relationship played a huge part in luring his NRM leaning billionaire father into compromising the NUP EMC.

Political commentator Frank Ntambi who is one of the key figures that popularized the controversial Nabbosa interview had this to say.

I honestly cringed watching our Mityana MP hopeful Proscovia Mukisa on Baba TV declaring she’d love to sit on “the Entertainment Committee” …. a committee that doesn’t even exist in Uganda’s Parliament. My heart broke a little, not out of malice, but from sheer disbelief. How does someone aspiring to legislate not know the basic structure of the House she dreams of joining? How kind of qtns was she asked by the “Independt EMC” to beat her opponents for the party card??

Let’s hide this clip from Ssemujju Nganda at all costs ….. that man will cook us for days. He’s been on that elitism rant against “wheelbarrow politicians,” and this right here would be his golden meal. We can’t afford to hand him more firewood.,” he posted on X.

Meanwhile, the public is critically watching to see if the NUP EMC will heed to public pressure and recall TikToker Prossy Mukisa Nabbosa from the Woman MP slot. We are reliably informed that Nalubega Fausta Bitaano petitioned the party on a series of grounds amongst which included the inconsistencies in Nabbosa’s academic credentials.
