Nakaseke bursts into celebrations over Nakawooya nomination as NUP woman MP flag bearer
The residents of Nakaseke District are still making merry following the declaration of renown journalist-cum politician Esther Nakawooya as the official flag bearer of the opposition National Unity Platform party.
The youthful politician Nakawooya is seeking to unseat the incumbent ruling National Resistance Movement party candidate Sarah Najjuma whose popularity has faded due to the atrocities committed by her government in power.
”We need immediate change. We want to start a new chapter with Ms. Nakawooya Esther who is our own homebred daughter,” Ezekiel Mugerwa, a resident of Kasagga village in Nakaseke reiterated. “The NRM has done more harm than good to the people of greater Luweero. We feel that this is the best time for them to pack their bags and bid us farewell,” remarked another Luweero resident known as Busuulwa Livingston.
Nakawooya Esther, a graduate of Journalism and a celebrated charity guru was declared as the official flag bearer of the NUP following an intensive vetting process that involved ground survey assessments and interviews conducted by the party’s most trusted officials. She emerged victorious after defeating her fellow contenders who have since agreed to work with her in unison to deliver the much desired victory for the NUP party as it seeks to retain its position in Buganda and Uganda.
Our publication made a silent visit to Nakaseke District where we obtained information that the residents are very optimistic about voting for Esther Nakawooya but their greatest fear is that the NRM party may rely on the remoteness of the district and resort to ballot stuffing and rigging.
”Esther is very popular and we shall vote for her. She has worked for us through her charity projects and she has donated maternity materials to our expectant mothers. That alone demonstrates her willingness to serve her fellow women. We shall vote for her but we need to guard our victory just like we did with the Kawempe North byelection,” Namugerwa Alicia a 70 year old resident of Nakaseke said.
