Mityana residents protest Nabbosa NUP nomination over Bitaano

A huge section of Mityana residents have asked the National Unity Platform party leadership to reconsider their decision of nominating Tiktok comedian Prossy Mukisa Nabbosa whom they believe is not fit enough to take on NRM candidate Judith Nabakooba.

According to the residents, Makindye woman Lord Councillor Nalubega Fausta Bitaano is the better candidate that the NUP Election Management Committee should have nominated instead of Nabbosa Prossy Mukisa.

”Bitaano has been part of our revolutionary struggle. We have a history with as the People Power movement. She has been very loyal to the party and she is not new to politics,” Mugerwa Peter a resident of Zigoti says. “It is unfortunate that the EMC has fallen for the trap of Mr. Butebi Emmanuel Ssembuusi who is a celebrated cadre of the NRM party. He has imposed Nabbosa on us just because she is his puppet,” opines Nalubowa Mercy Alice, a resident of Busimbi division.

Some residents have asked Nalubega Fausta Bitaano to lodge in a petition demanding an immediate ground assessment for the Mityana woman MP polls.

”Nabbosa is not well grounded. She has not been campaigning at all and she is riding on the fame of Zaake Francis Butebi who is her rumored lover. She is unfit for leadership and has too many scandals,” remarked Namusisi Patricia a resident of Buswabulongo in Mityana. “We were very shocked and disappointed that Bitaano who has worked so hard for NUP has not been considered. We are struggling to come to terms with this and we would wish to know what criteria was followed by the EMC,” remarked another resident of Central ward Mityana.

With just a few days left for NUP presidential candidate to hit his presidential campaign trail in Buganda which starts on Monday in Mityana, the tempers are still flaring within the people still divided and undecided on whether to join Nabbosa Prossy. Some are already urging Nalubega Fausta Bitaano to run as independent though she is indecisive about disobeying the party just like Joyce Bagala Ntwatwa has done.
