Kabaka Starts Feeding Lukwago’s Family Sending Hidden Message To Muhoozi Who Vowed To Hang Lukwago Like Besigye

The Kabaka of Buganda has extended humanitarian support to the family of imprisoned lawyer and People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) leader Erias Lukwago by providing food and other essential supplies following reports of the hardships they are facing during his continued detention. The gesture comes amid growing concern over Lukwago’s health and the welfare of his family as he remains away from home.

On Thursday, the Kabaka delegated the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, to visit Lukwago’s residence in Wakaliga on behalf of the Kingdom. During the visit, Mayiga delivered food items, beverages, and other necessities to Lukwago’s wife and children, assuring them that the Buganda Kingdom would continue standing with them during the difficult period.

Speaking to the family, Mayiga said the Kabaka had been informed about the challenges they were experiencing following the imprisonment of the family’s main breadwinner. He noted that the Kingdom was concerned about the welfare of Lukwago’s children and wanted to ensure they had basic necessities while their father remains in custody.

According to Mayiga, the Kabaka believes Lukwago deserves fair treatment and has consistently expressed concern over reports of violations of his rights. He told the family that the Kingdom would not ignore their situation, especially at a time when Lukwago is reportedly battling health complications while in prison.

The Katikkiro also recalled that the Kabaka had publicly condemned the alleged violation of Lukwago’s human rights during a meeting with Buganda clan leaders held last week at Twekobe in Mengo. During that gathering, the monarch reportedly emphasized the importance of respecting the rights and dignity of every Ugandan regardless of political affiliation.

Mayiga described Lukwago as a leader who has consistently supported the interests of the Buganda Kingdom throughout his public service. He said the former Kampala Lord Mayor had always defended Buganda’s causes through lawful means and had maintained respect for the institution of the Kabaka without seeking personal gain.

He further stated that the Kingdom regards Lukwago as a peaceful leader who has relied on dialogue and legal processes rather than violence. According to Mayiga, the Kabaka recognizes Lukwago as a public servant who served with humility and integrity, adding that he has never been associated with the misuse of public resources during his leadership.

The Katikkiro acknowledged that Lukwago’s continued absence has placed a heavy financial burden on his household. He noted that raising and providing for the children had become increasingly difficult for their mother alone, making the Kingdom’s intervention necessary to ease some of the immediate pressure facing the family.

Family members received the relief items with appreciation, thanking the Kabaka for remembering them during what they described as one of the most challenging periods they have experienced. The visit also attracted attention from residents and supporters, many of whom praised the Kingdom for extending practical assistance instead of limiting its support to public statements.

Lukwago remains in prison as legal and political discussions surrounding his case continue. Meanwhile, the Buganda Kingdom has indicated that it will continue monitoring both his welfare and that of his family, maintaining that compassion and respect for human dignity should remain central regardless of the circumstances surrounding any individual’s detention.
