Florence Nambozo Mayoga Receives Hero’s Welcome in Mutufu After Boycotting NRM Primaries

A wave of excitement and pride swept through Mutufu Town Council as residents turned out in large numbers to welcome Hon. Florence Nambozo Mayoga back home. Her return was met with cheers, songs, and heartfelt speeches, as the community celebrated her courageous decision to withdraw from the disputed NRM primaries—a move many saw as an act of principle and integrity.

Hon. Mayoga’s stand against what locals described as a manipulated and unfair electoral process earned her deep respect. Several candidates had already pulled out of the primaries, citing irregularities allegedly overseen by NRM officials in Sironko District, particularly under the leadership of Haji Mafabi Lumolo. For the people of Mutufu, Mayoga’s decision was not only justified—it was admirable.

Using a Lumasaba proverb, community members expressed their unwavering loyalty: “You can’t pour your drinking water out of the pot just because it’s about to rain.” The message was clear—Florence Mayoga is a trusted leader, and there is no reason to abandon her in pursuit of uncertain alternatives. They reminded critics that even President Museveni had acknowledged her ability, arguing that his endorsement should not be taken lightly.

Residents pledged their full support for Hon. Mayoga in the upcoming general elections, citing her track record of service, accessibility, and genuine concern for their wellbeing. To them, she embodies the leadership they want—grounded, principled, and people-focused.

As Hon. Mayoga continues her journey, Mutufu stands firmly behind her. The overwhelming turnout and emotional welcome left no doubt: she has the people’s trust, and together, they are committed to building a stronger future.
