Exposed!! Lukwago Accuses Some NUP Leaders of Secretly Working with Museveni
Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has made a bold and serious claim against some members of the National Unity Platform (NUP). He says that while they act like they are fighting the government in public, they are secretly working with President Yoweri Museveni behind the scenes.
“You cannot oppose the government during the day and support it at night,” Lukwago said firmly, warning that such behavior is destroying the trust people have in the opposition.
Lukwago’s remarks were supported by veteran politician Ken Lukyamuzi, who added that selfishness and lack of trust are breaking apart the opposition. He stressed that unless there is real unity, any effort to work together will be fake and useless.
These statements bring attention to the growing problems among Uganda’s opposition parties, including the NUP, Democratic Party (DP), and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC). Although they once spoke of building a united front, they now appear to be more focused on accusing each other instead of joining forces.
There have been increasing accusations that some members within the opposition are acting as “moles” — secretly helping the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM). This has created more suspicion and tension, especially as the country moves closer to the next general election.
Even with platforms like the Inter-Party Organisation for Dialogue (IPOD), which aim to bring different parties together, progress has been slow. Many critics say that personal ambitions are taking priority over national goals.
Lukwago is now urging Ugandans to be alert and demand accountability from all political leaders, not just those in government. He warns that if the opposition continues to fight among itself, it could waste another big opportunity for change in the 2026 elections.
