“NUP Set Me Up” Twaha Kagabo Speaks as he Suffers Humiliation After Brutal Ejection Off Stage

Independent Member of Parliament Twaha Kagabo has spoken out following a humiliating ejection from a National Resistance Movement (NRM) mobilization event in Mubende, alleging that the National Unity Platform (NUP) orchestrated the incident to embarrass him.

Kagabo, a former NUP affiliate, was invited to speak at the event but was abruptly removed from the stage after making remarks that reportedly criticized the ruling party while praising the opposition. His comments triggered an angry response from the crowd and event organizers, leading to his physical removal amid jeers.

In a statement following the incident, Kagabo claimed, “NUP set me up to embarrass me in front of the public,” expressing regret over taking the podium. He accused unnamed individuals within NUP of engineering the confrontation to damage his reputation.

The incident has since sparked widespread debate online. Some have called for greater political tolerance, while others questioned Kagabo’s shifting loyalties and political strategy.

Neither the NRM nor NUP has released an official statement regarding the altercation, leaving Kagabo’s political standing in further uncertainty as he navigates tensions between Uganda’s leading political factions.
