Hon Zambaali Calls for Justice, Respect for Voters During Masjid Nyanzi Opening
Nansana Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Bulasio Zambaali Mukasa has called for justice, respect for citizens’ choices and stronger democratic values, saying places of worship should be symbols of fairness and accountability.
Zambaali made the remarks on Friday while attending a Juma session at Masjid Nyanzi in Maganjo, where he joined the Supreme Mufti, Sheikh Galabuzi, to witness the opening of the refurbished mosque.
In his remarks, Zambaali described the refurbishment as more than the renovation of a physical structure, saying the mosque should continue serving as a place of worship, unity, guidance and community service.
“Today, together with the Supreme Mufti, Sheikh Galabuzi, I had the honour of witnessing the opening of the refurbished Masjid Nyanzi. This is more than the renewal of a building; it is the renewal of a place of worship, unity, guidance and service to the community,” he said.
The Nansana legislator used the occasion to emphasise the importance of justice in both religious and public life.
He argued that places of worship should promote values that are consistent with the principles of justice and fairness, which he said are important to God and society.
“Places of worship should be a symbol of justice because that’s what God wants us to do,” Zambaali said.
He also linked the principles of justice to Uganda’s electoral processes, questioning how citizens can maintain places of worship while failing to respect people’s choices during elections.
“We can’t have mosques when we cannot listen to people’s choices in elections,” he said.
Zambaali further criticised what he described as problems experienced during the Local Council One (LC1) elections, saying the process was not satisfactory.
“Even lining up in LC1 elections was a mess,” he added.

His remarks placed emphasis on the relationship between faith, justice and civic responsibility, urging communities to ensure that democratic values are respected alongside religious principles.
The refurbished Masjid Nyanzi is expected to continue providing a place for Muslim faithful in Maganjo and surrounding areas to gather for prayers, religious guidance and community activities.
The event brought together religious leaders, political leaders and members of the local Muslim community, with the participation of the Supreme Mufti highlighting the religious significance of the reopening.
Zambaali’s message also reflected his broader call for citizens’ voices and choices to be respected, particularly during electoral processes, while encouraging places of worship to remain centres of peace, unity and justice.
