Hanged With A Suicide Note!! Secrets Leak On S4 Naalya SS Student Who Died In School Premises
KAMPALA — Police have launched investigations into the death of a Senior Four student at Naalya Senior Secondary School’s Bweyogerere campus in what is being treated as a suspected suicide.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening, prompting an immediate response from both the school administration and officers attached to Kira Division Police.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, the school authorities alerted police shortly after the student was discovered. Detectives and Scene of Crime officers were dispatched to the school to examine the scene and begin investigations.
“The school administration alerted police immediately, and our team of detectives and Scene of Crime officers from Kira Division Police visited the scene, documented evidence, recorded statements from witnesses, and later conveyed the body to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem,” Owoyesigyire said.
Police said preliminary findings indicate that the student had been seen shortly before the incident was reported. However, investigators have not yet established the circumstances that led to the student’s death.
During the examination of the scene, investigators recovered a handwritten note believed to have been written by the deceased. The note has since been taken into police custody for forensic examination as part of the ongoing inquiry.
“The note has been secured, and its contents are being examined as part of the investigation. Police extend condolences to the family, friends, and the entire school community during this difficult time. Investigations are ongoing and further details will be communicated once available,” Owoyesigyire said.
Police have not released the student’s identity, citing the need to first notify family members and to protect the integrity of the investigation.
The body was transported to Mulago City Mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to help establish the exact cause of death.
The latest incident comes amid growing concern over an increasing number of suspected suicide cases involving students across Uganda in recent years. Mental health experts have repeatedly called for stronger counselling services in schools, greater awareness about mental health challenges, and improved support systems for young people facing emotional or psychological distress.
Last month, 19-year-old Vanisa Namakoye, a Senior Five student at Mbale Progressive Secondary School and a resident of Bunamwani Lower Cell, was found dead at her home in Bumutoto Ward, Industrial Division, in another suspected suicide case.
Her death occurred only days after her 16-year-old friend, Catherine Nelima, was also found dead in a separate suspected suicide incident in Bukisukye Lower Cell, Bumutoto Ward.
Police say investigations into the Naalya Senior Secondary School case are continuing, and further information will be released once inquiries are complete.
