Famous Ugandan Diplomat Arrested On Orders Of Muhoozi
Renowned city businessman Hajji Habib Kagimu has reportedly been taken into custody following directives from the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba. His arrest is believed to be part of Gen. Muhoozi’s growing effort to stamp out corruption within the ranks of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
Sources privy to the matter informed this publication that Kagimu, who also represents Malaysia as its Honorary Consul in Uganda, is currently being held at the Makindye Military Barracks — a facility commonly associated with military detentions and disciplinary action involving army personnel.
According to insiders, Kagimu’s arrest is connected to alleged fraudulent dealings with top officials in the logistics division of the UPDF.
Investigators are said to be looking into suspicious transactions involving military supplies that were reportedly never delivered, despite full payment being made — transactions sometimes referred to as “air” supplies due to their non-existent nature.
“The issue under investigation involves supplies that were supposedly procured for the army, but in reality, nothing was delivered — yet the payments were processed,” a source familiar with the developments explained.
The UPDF’s logistics department, operating under the oversight of the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MODVA), is charged with a wide range of critical military support services. These include procurement, transport coordination, combat logistics, mobility, and the training of logistics personnel.

Over the past few years, the department has made strides toward reform — adopting modern systems, introducing new training modules, and enforcing logistical guidelines intended to reduce misuse of resources and improve accountability.
Despite these reforms, challenges with transparency and proper resource management have persisted — prompting Gen. Muhoozi’s intensified anti-corruption campaign. His recent actions are viewed by many as a serious commitment to addressing graft at all levels of the military hierarchy.
By targeting well-connected individuals such as Kagimu, Gen. Muhoozi appears to be sending a strong signal that accountability will not spare influential figures — regardless of their business standing or diplomatic affiliations.
