EACOP Rebuilds a School After Relocation
Kabajjo Memorial Junior School in Sembabule District has been rebuilt with support from the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project.
In 2024, the school’s original classroom block was affected by EACOP’s Right of Way (ROW). As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, EACOP worked with the school to replace the block instead of providing monetary compensation.
By November 2024, the new facilities were completed and in use. This allowed over 15 students to take their Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) in a better environment.
The school recorded its best academic results. Out of 15 students, two secured Division 1, ten achieved Division 2, and three were in Division 3. Teachers credited the improved facilities for the better performance.
“Last year, none of our students achieved Division 1, and we had failures. This year, no student failed. The new facilities made a difference,” a school representative said.
The improvements have also benefited the community. Parents have more confidence in the school, and local leaders praised EACOP for its approach to corporate responsibility.
EACOP’s involvement at Kabajjo Memorial Junior School shows how corporations can support communities by addressing their needs with long-term solutions.
