Police Close In on Fugitive Boda Boda Rider Over Brutal Lover’s Murder
Police in Kajjansi have intensified a manhunt for a boda boda rider suspected of murdering his girlfriend in a chilling incident that has shocked residents of Wakiso District.
The case was officially reported at Bwebajja Police Post on January 2, triggering investigations into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
The deceased has been identified as Halima Nampera, a 38-year-old businesswoman and resident of Kasenge, Entebbe Municipality. Family members describe her as hardworking and well-known in her community, making her sudden and violent death deeply distressing to relatives and neighbors alike.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, Nampera was last seen on the night of December 31, 2025, when she was picked up from her home by her suspected boyfriend, Gumisiriza Moses, a boda boda rider. After leaving with him, she never returned home, raising alarm among family members who immediately began searching for her.

“On January 2, 2026, the deceased was found dead in a rental house in Bwebajja Cell, Kajjansi Town Council,” Owoyesigyire said.
Police reports indicate that Nampera’s body was discovered in the bathroom of the rented premises under disturbing circumstances. Officers noted visible signs of strangulation, pointing to foul play and suggesting that she may have been killed hours or days earlier.
Following the discovery, a team of detectives accompanied by Scenes of Crime Officers was dispatched to the location. The officers documented the scene, collected forensic evidence, and recorded statements from potential witnesses in an effort to reconstruct Nampera’s final moments. Her body was later conveyed to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.

Meanwhile, the prime suspect, Gumisiriza Moses, remains at large. Police say he fled shortly after the incident and has since gone into hiding. Security agencies have launched a coordinated operation to track him down, warning that he will be arrested and brought to book.
Police have urged members of the public who may have information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts to cooperate with authorities, as investigations into the suspected domestic-related homicide continue.
