Is Veteran Politician Gen. Moses Ali Dead Or Alive? Family Goes Silent As Shocking News Come From Nakasero Hospital
KAMPALA — Former Second Deputy Prime Minister and veteran Ugandan politician Gen. Moses Ali is reportedly receiving intensive medical care, according to information circulating on social media and sources familiar with the matter.
Reports about the 87-year-old Adjumani West Member of Parliament began spreading online on Saturday, prompting concern among supporters and political observers. However, neither his family nor the Government of Uganda had issued an official statement on his condition by the time of publication.
According to information obtained by this publication, Gen. Moses Ali was initially admitted to the Mulago Heart Institute before being transferred to Nakasero Hospital after his condition reportedly deteriorated. The exact nature of his illness has not been publicly disclosed, and there has been no official confirmation regarding his diagnosis.
Sources close to the veteran politician, who requested anonymity because they are not authorized to speak publicly, said he has been battling health challenges for some time. The sources added that his condition recently worsened, leading to his hospitalization.
The reports have fueled widespread discussion across social media platforms, with many Ugandans expressing concern and offering prayers for one of the country’s longest-serving political figures. Others have called for official communication from the family or government to clarify the situation and address growing speculation.

Gen. Moses Ali has not been seen at public events for approximately one month, further fueling questions about his health. His prolonged absence from public engagements had already sparked speculation before reports of his hospitalization emerged.
Despite the growing public interest, government officials have remained tight-lipped, while members of his family have also refrained from commenting publicly on the reports.
Gen. Moses Ali is one of Uganda’s most experienced politicians and military figures, having served in several senior government positions over the decades. Throughout his political career, he has held key cabinet portfolios and played a prominent role in national affairs.
He previously served as Second Deputy Prime Minister and Leader of Government Business in Parliament before President Yoweri Museveni left him out of a subsequent Cabinet reshuffle. The decision was widely linked to concerns about his advancing age and health, although no official explanation specifically cited medical reasons.
Following his departure from Cabinet, the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) retained him in Parliament, where he currently serves as the Member of Parliament for Adjumani West. He is also recognized as the oldest serving legislator in the 11th Parliament at 87 years of age.
The NRM assigned the veteran politician to the Parliamentary Committee on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), allowing him to continue contributing to legislative work despite stepping away from executive responsibilities.
Meanwhile, President Museveni appointed Gen. Moses Ali’s son, Siraj Ali, as State Minister for Transport, a move that attracted significant public attention at the time.
As concern over Gen. Moses Ali’s health continues to grow, Ugandans are awaiting an official update from his family, medical team or government authorities. Until then, reports regarding his condition remain unconfirmed, and the public has been urged to rely on verified information as it becomes available.
Should official communication be released, this publication will provide updates accordingly.
