RIP!! Famous MP Dies Immediately After Election
Stella Apolot Isodo, the incumbent and outgoing Woman Member of Parliament for Ngora District, has died just hours after losing her bid for re-election, a tragic turn of events that has sent shockwaves through the district and across Uganda’s political landscape.
The sudden death of Isodo, a veteran opposition politician and long-serving mobiliser for the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), has cast a sombre mood over a fiercely contested electoral season.
She was widely recognised for her outspoken advocacy on women’s rights, grassroots empowerment, and community development, causes she championed both in and outside Parliament.
Tributes have continued to pour in from political leaders, colleagues, and ordinary citizens who worked closely with Isodo over the years. Many have described her as a tireless mobiliser who remained deeply connected to the people she served.
Throughout her tenure in Parliament, Isodo earned respect across political divides for her hands-on leadership style and her commitment to advancing social and economic initiatives in Ngora District, particularly those targeting women and vulnerable communities.

Her passing was officially confirmed by the Speaker of Parliament, Annet Anita Among, who announced the news through her X (formerly Twitter) account. According to preliminary reports, Isodo had been battling a short illness.
She was being transported to Mulago National Referral Hospital for specialised treatment when she passed away on Saturday evening, before reaching the facility.
Isodo’s death comes at a particularly painful moment for her supporters, following a tightly contested election that marked the end of her parliamentary career.
The race for the Ngora District Woman MP seat significantly reshaped the district’s political landscape, with the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) reclaiming the position.
The seat was won by Pedun Josephine Pedun of the NRM, who secured 17,010 votes. Abeja Christine Abeja of the Democratic Party (DP) finished second with 12,152 votes, while Isodo polled 11,334 votes, placing third in the race. National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Amuge Rhoda trailed with 437 votes.

For many in Ngora, the loss of Isodo is being felt not only as a political defeat but as the passing of a leader who had become a familiar and influential figure in local politics.
As the district mourns, her legacy as a dedicated public servant and advocate for community development is likely to endure beyond her years in office.
