Breaking!! Police Bans Processions, Ambulances On Bobi Wine’s Campaigns – See Why

The Uganda Police Force has unveiled a fresh and comprehensive set of security and conduct guidelines intended to ensure that the ongoing election campaigns unfold in an orderly, peaceful, and predictable manner. These guidelines come at a time when presidential, parliamentary, local government, and Special Interest Group (SIG) campaign activities are gaining momentum across the country, drawing large crowds and heightened political interest.

According to the police, all candidates together with their campaign teams are required to strictly comply with the established protocols. Authorities stress that the success of these campaigns will greatly depend on close coordination with key stakeholders, especially the police and the Electoral Commission, when planning and executing campaign programs. Police officials say such collaboration is crucial in preventing clashes between supporters, eliminating unnecessary confusion, and averting logistical complications that could disrupt the campaign trail.

Re-emphasizing existing rules, the police reiterated a firm ban on campaign processions, noting that candidates must interact with their supporters only at designated campaign venues. This measure, they argue, is meant to streamline crowd control and reduce the likelihood of violent confrontations or road-related hazards.

In the same directive, the force prohibited the increasingly common practice of using ambulances as lead vehicles in campaign convoys. Drivers were warned against the misuse of emergency medical vehicles, with police insisting that ambulances must remain reserved for genuine health emergencies.

Security agencies also condemned recent incidents of campaign-related violence, including the defacing of posters and campaign materials. Authorities vowed that all offenders involved in such acts will face prosecution. They further raised alarms over emerging cyber-crimes linked to the campaign period, cautioning the public and political actors alike that the law provides for serious penalties for such digital offenses.

Police additionally reported disturbing cases in which criminals disguised themselves in party T-shirts and other campaign materials to rob unsuspecting members of the public of their phones, money, and valuables. Security teams have been instructed to respond swiftly and firmly to these criminal tactics, which authorities warn could escalate if left unchecked.

Persistent traffic violations—particularly the dangerous overloading of motor vehicles during campaign events—also remain a major concern. Police urged campaign organizers to work hand-in-hand with traffic officers, emergency medical services, and fire brigade teams to minimize the safety risks associated with large gatherings and convoy movements.

Authorities emphasized that individuals who violate campaign or security guidelines will be held personally accountable. Even if arrests are not made immediately, the police made it clear that offenders will be identified, tracked down, and apprehended at a later time. The Uganda Police Force maintained that these guidelines are designed not to limit political expression but to safeguard both participants and the general public as the campaign season intensifies.

Meanwhile, NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, is expected to campaign in Kawempe South and Kawempe North today, November 24, 2025, drawing significant anticipation from supporters in the area.
