Duncan, 34, says his brother had been perfectly normal a few years ago, but then he suddenly changed. At first, they suspected drug use. Later, he was dismissed from his job after being declared unfit due to his mental condition. Over time, he stopped living at home and began roaming the streets of Kisumu.

They never knew exactly what had gone wrong. Once a clean, hardworking person with a good job in one of Kisumu’s top government offices, he became a street boy. Whenever he saw a family member or someone who knew him, he would run. Most of the time, he would lie near rubbish collection areas and feed from the trash.
