Calvin Echodu Endorsed by NRM Delegates from Western Uganda for Eastern Region Vice Chairperson

NRM delegates from the districts of Kabarole, Kitagwenda, Kamwenge, Ntoroko, Bunyangabu, and Kasese have officially endorsed Mr. Calvin Echodu for the position of NRM Vice Chairperson for the Eastern Region.

During the meeting, Ambassador Nelson Ocheger Amooti introduced Echodu to the delegates, commending his unwavering commitment to the NRM and his efforts in strengthening the party across regions. He pointed to Echodu’s impact in Teso, recalling how in 2006, the region had weak support for the NRM. However, through Echodu’s tireless work, the party gained firm ground there.

Ambassador Ocheger emphasized that Teso continues to stand firmly behind President Yoweri Museveni as their chosen leader and called on the delegates to support Echodu, whose leadership, he said, goes beyond the Eastern Region and is capable of positively shaping the party’s future on a national scale.

In his remarks, Calvin Echodu thanked President Museveni for his leadership and pledged to serve the Eastern Region with commitment and passion. He outlined his focus areas, including fighting poverty through strengthening NRM SACCOs and supporting party members with financial and organizational resources.

Echodu also addressed the need to build and support party cadres. He noted that many members dedicate personal resources to NRM activities and often face financial hardship afterward. His plan involves creating a system where cadres benefit through SACCOs while continuing to actively contribute to party work.

Ms. Kyomuhendo, one of the delegates, praised Echodu’s leadership style, saying, “We need action, not words. Calvin has always been a man of action.” Another delegate noted that Echodu’s bold and unifying approach may unsettle some, but urged him to remain focused, assuring him, “God will see him through.”

The meeting ended with a powerful endorsement as the host chairperson rallied attendees to show their support. “Let’s endorse him as ours! He is the man we need to take our party to the next level,” he declared.

The delegates responded with enthusiasm, signaling strong confidence in Calvin Echodu’s leadership and his vision for the NRM in Eastern Uganda.
