Kololo-based nightclub Mezo Noir has announced that its staff members previously arrested in connection with the death of Martha Ahumuza Murari have been released, having been cleared of any wrongdoing.

Among those arrested was a male employee who reportedly drank with Ahumuza until 3:30 a.m. The club stated in an official notice that investigations found the staff innocent, and they have since been released from police custody.

“Our hearts remain with the family and friends of our valued client. The loss of such a young and promising soul is deeply tragic,” the club’s management said.

They further dismissed ongoing speculation linking their staff to the incident, calling it “false, malicious, and unfounded,” urging the public to disregard such claims.

Following the incident, Mezo Noir voluntarily shut down to allow police and other authorities to carry out investigations. With the staff now cleared, the club says it is preparing to reopen soon, promising enhanced safety and continued high standards in hospitality.

“We’ll communicate the reopening date shortly,” the statement added.

Ahumuza’s untimely death last month, after a night out at Mezo Noir, was initially suspected to be a case of poisoning. Two brothers were also detained during the investigation. However, no official cause of death has been confirmed.

At her burial, Ahumuza’s father vowed to uncover the truth behind his daughter’s death, regardless of the cost.
