Police investigates opposition politician Bitaano

A team of detectives from the Uganda Police Criminal Investigations Department have launched investigations into the alleged ‘subversive activities’ by former Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament contender in the 2026 polls, Ms. Nalubega Fausta Bitaano.

According to a report seen by this reporter, the CID detectives allege that Ms. Bitaano has been a key financier of a team of opposition youths who are claimed to be masterminds of protests within Kampala and the Metropolitan area.

“That Ms. Nalubega Fausta Bitaano financed and supported protests that were aimed at blocking the swearing in ceremony of the President of the Republic of Uganda. Additionally, Nalubega facilitated and enabled a team of petitioners from the National Peasants Party led by Kasibante Robert to compel court to nullify the victory of Gen. Yoweri Museveni…” reads part of the CID report. The report furthermore claims that Ms. Bitaano’s mobile money transactions between January 25-March 15 of this year were mainly between her and youths believed to be organizing protests against the government of Uganda.

We have not been able to access Bitaano by phone call as all her known contacts remain unreachable by the time we filed this report. A family source has however informed this reporter that Ms. Bitaano is now on the run in fear of possible prosecution and arrest by the state security intelligence.

It should be noted that the state has lately apprehended all vocal and vibrant voices in the opposition and as we report, the likes of Eddie Mutwe and Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro are in prison just like the four time presidential candidate Rtd. Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye.
