UNBELIEVABLE!! Bobi Wine Police Guards ‘Dismissed by Police Court for Helping Him Escape’- See How They Did It

National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine says his police guards have been dismissed by police court for ‘helping him escape.’ Bobi Wine police guards, nine in number, had been assigned to escort him during his presidential campaigns.

The nine appeared before the Police Court and “they were all dismissed from the Uganda Police Force with disgrace,” according to Bobi Wine.

“We understand that in addition to being dismissed, officer Kigenyi and another were taken back to detention at the police station at the Railway grounds and are still being interrogated!” he added.

The National Unity Platform (NUP) leader says the nine police officers were charged with “neglect of duty” and that the “regime claims that they assisted me in escaping from my own home.”

Describing the allegations as “crazy,” Bobi Wine described the officers as “professional.” He claims these were withdrawn on election day: January 15. He says the regime is looking for someone to blame for failing to find him.

“By the time I left my home on the 16th when the military raided, they were no longer on duty,” Bobi Wine added.

“But now, they’re being hounded, persecuted, and punished because the regime cannot live with the embarrassment of not being able to locate me for two months. They’re looking for anyone to blame.”

“In any event, these officers were deployed to protect me and not to spy on me. But this is what Museveni has turned all institutions into! He expects them to do everything illegal, criminal, or immoral to sustain his criminal enterprise. Choosing to act professionally has landed very many civil servants in trouble.”

UPDF has said that they are not looking for Bobi Wine and that the army is not interested in him despite mounting checkpoints around Kampala, only for reports to emerge that his police guards had been arrested.

Journalist and political commentator Andrew Mwenda said during a recent podcast that intelligence services had sought authorisation to apprehend Kyagulanyi but were reportedly told not to proceed.

“What I know with a high degree of confidence is that the intelligence services were able to establish where Bobi Wine is and they needed permission from the president to go and apprehend him from there and the president said ‘no. leave him’,” Mwenda said, citing what he described as reliable sources within the security system.

Government officials have given mixed signals on the issue. Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has previously indicated that security agencies were searching for the opposition leader. However, Minister of Information and National Guidance Chris Baryomunsi has said the state is not pursuing him and that he has no case to answer.

The National Unity Platform recently told journalists that Kyagulanyi is still in Uganda and in good health, though it declined to reveal his location. Other reports have suggested that the opposition leader may have since left the country and travelled to the United States.

The circumstances surrounding Kyagulanyi’s whereabouts, as well as the dismissal of the police officers mentioned in his statement, continue to generate debate in Uganda’s political space.
