Insatiable Makindye West MP Zahra eyes juicy Parliament Commissioner job

As they say that politics is too addictive and man is naturally greedy and insatiable, the newly elected Makindye West MP who is also a new comer to parliament, Zahra Luyirika Maala has declared to her immediate political camp that she intends to lobby for the parliamentary commissioner job.

Luyirika, whose political career is stained and mired with scandals ranging from her connivance with the state to impeach Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago in 2012 to the most recent back door deal that saw her sell off the Nakivubo channel to city tycoon Hamis Kigunddu, is now seeking a partnership with another scandalous Speaker of Parliament Anita Among to continue with her back door dealings.

It is very obvious that Luyirika barely knows the parliamentary rules of procedure, owing to the fact that she is a new entrant in the House. But her ambitious self cannot be suppressed and she is now banking on the spending spree she endured as she dared to unseat incumbent Shamim Malende from the Kampala woman MP race. Sources have it that Zahra Luyirika spent close to UGX 2billion as she attempted to entice the Kavule secretariat to consider her for the Kampala woman MP job only to be dumped in Makindye West where she never expressed interest.

In fact, Luyirika has been confiding in her political camp that she will do everything possible to secure the Commissioner Office job on grounds that she even financed the NUP party presidential campaign trail on her own money.

“I was very key in sustaining Bobi’s presidential campaign. I have been buying for them fuel and also I have been facilitating foot soldiers on the campaign trail,” Luyirika is quoted to have said during a high profile meeting at her Buziga based home. “I have all it takes to be commissioner. Even if it means offering a bribe, I will do it,” she added.

Luyirika is also reportedly banking on the gender and religion card and she has openly said that since the Leader of the Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi is a male and a Christian, it is possible that she will be considered as a Muslim woman for the Commissioner job.
