Why Bobi Wine Is The Next President Of Uganda Come 2026 – Secrets Leak

National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential flagbearer Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has boldly declared that none of the candidates vying for the presidency in 2026 stands a chance against him in a genuinely free and fair contest. According to him, his nationwide support base is too strong and too broad to be matched by any of his political opponents.

Speaking passionately during the Nation Media Group’s presidential debate on Sunday evening, Bobi Wine insisted that Ugandans have already made their political preferences clear. He argued that his influence stretches across every corner of the country, cutting through regions, tribes, and social classes.

“The people of Uganda have consistently shown it to you, from the north to the south, from the east to the west. None of the candidates can win me in an election, even in their own backyard,” he said, underscoring his confidence in the support he believes he commands from the electorate.

Bobi Wine, who first entered the presidential race in 2021, emerged as the runner-up according to the Electoral Commission’s official tally. The Commission said he secured 35 percent of the vote, while President Yoweri Museveni was declared the winner with 58 percent. Bobi Wine has, however, never accepted those results. From the very beginning, he alleged that the election was marred by fraud and irregularities orchestrated to keep the incumbent in power.

He reiterated that position during the debate, calling on Ugandans to stand with him once again in 2026 and finish what he describes as an incomplete struggle for political change.

“I call upon all of you to vote for me. Yes, I have the highest respect for all these presidential contenders, but I am the best choice. It is only a pretender that will not agree that the person elected to be president of Uganda in 2021 was Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert,” he said.

The NUP leader framed the upcoming election as a historic turning point, urging voters to seize the moment to end what he termed “40 years of dictatorship.” He made a pledge that a victory for him would usher in a “new Uganda,” one built on justice, transparency, and institutional independence.

During the debate, Bobi Wine painted a stark picture of the current governance landscape. He accused the state of capturing key institutions and eroding democratic principles that are meant to protect citizens.

“At a time when our nation is at a crossroads, when all institutions of state are under capture, including the judiciary; when a judge sits to decide a case not based on the law but on what General Museveni wants; when appointment of judges is done by one person instead of the Judicial Service Commission; when a Justice of the Supreme Court, Esther Kisaakye, is in exile because she fears for her life for disagreeing with the status quo; when political leaders like Dr. Kizza Besigye are in jail for no case whatsoever; when citizens are tortured on camera by those meant to protect them; when social media like Facebook is blocked; when laws are applied selectively; when some citizens are imprisoned under the Computer Misuse Act; when a country is completely captured,” he said.

Despite the grim picture he painted, Bobi Wine insisted that the situation is not hopeless. He expressed optimism that Ugandans can collectively rebuild the nation and usher in stronger democratic values.

“A new Uganda is possible. A new Uganda can come, and it’s by you and me,” Bobi Wine said, ending his address with a message of determination and collective responsibility.

His remarks come at a time when the political climate is intensifying ahead of the 2026 general elections. Issues of governance, justice, civic freedoms, and institutional independence have taken centre stage, setting the stage for what could be one of the most critical elections in Uganda’s modern political history.
