Bebe Cool Reveals Why Bobi Wine Should Stop Dreaming About Becoming President
Gagamel boss Bebe Cool has once again fanned the flames of his long-running rivalry with Bobi Wine, launching a fresh wave of criticism toward the National Unity Platform (NUP) and questioning the opposition party’s ability to take the reins of Uganda’s leadership.
The outspoken artist, known for his bold political commentary and unwavering loyalty to the ruling party, argued that NUP remains far from ready—both in structure and strategy—to guide the nation.
Currently on an energetic campaign trail rallying support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Bebe Cool pointed to what he considers a telling sign of NUP’s internal weaknesses: the party’s failure to nominate candidates in several constituencies nationwide. To him, the gaps in their nomination list expose a deeper issue regarding the party’s preparedness and organizational strength.
“In the current Parliament, they have about 57 MPs but fielded only 297 candidates while NRM has over 500, plus other leaning candidates. Ten MPs from NRM have already gone unopposed even before elections. Does he mean they had no one who could step up in those places?” Bebe Cool said in an interview with a local TV station.

For Bebe Cool, the numbers speak for themselves. He insists that such shortcomings are not mere oversights but rather evidence that Bobi Wine’s team is still grappling with the demands of national politics.
He believes the opposition’s performance underscores the need for greater experience, better planning, and a more robust national structure if they hope to challenge the long-entrenched National Resistance Movement (NRM).
“They are not ready for leadership; it only proves they need to do better and maybe prepare for 2031,” he said.
The exchange adds yet another layer to the ongoing political and musical rivalry between the two artists, both of whom command massive followings across Uganda. Bebe Cool’s outspoken support for President Museveni has repeatedly placed him at odds with Bobi Wine, whose rise from musician to political leader has energized a new generation of opposition supporters. Their clashes, often punctuated by heated public remarks, continue to reflect the broader ideological battle between the ruling establishment and the youthful wave of change represented by NUP.

However, it is worth noting that several NUP aspirants reportedly failed to complete their nominations due to financial challenges, despite the party having identified candidates for the majority of constituencies. According to NUP sympathizers, these struggles highlight the difficulties faced by newer political movements operating without the extensive resources enjoyed by long-established parties.
Even so, Bebe Cool’s latest remarks have stirred fresh debate among political analysts, voters, and social media commentators. With Uganda’s political landscape already charged with tension and competition, his comments have further intensified discussions about the readiness, strategy, and future prospects of both NUP and its charismatic leader, Bobi Wine.
