BREAKING: NUP EMC drops Nabbosa over Baba TV interview
Reliable reports from Makerere Kavule indicate that the National Unity Platform party Election Management Committee has decided to drop Proscovia Mukisa Nabbosa from the position of Mityana woman MP flag bearer.
A source familiar with the development has revealed that a high profile meeting which occurred today evening at Makerere Kavule between the party secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya and EMC officials led by John Mary Ssebuufu and Harriet Chemutai has resolved that Nabbosa is dropped on grounds of incompetence that largely reflected in her controversial Baba TV interview that has thrown the party to bad light.
”Yes, we are going to follow what the people are saying. We have seen the backlash and we will nominate the other candidate Nalubega Fausta Bitaano to carry our flag. We have been embarrassed as a party,” a source privy to the meeting said under the condition of anonymity in fear of reprisals. “Nabbosa has exposed not just herself but everything we have done as the EMC. Our vetting has been considerate and competence is one of the key factors that we have been looking at,” he added.
By press time, no official communication from the NUP official pages had been made regarding the development though sources say the party intends to release the entire updated list by Thursday this week.
Our efforts to reach out to Nabbosa were futile as all her known phone numbers were unavailable for a comment. Her aide Mayega aka Munyarwanda wa Bobi says Nabbosa is not well educated and does not even have a UACE certificate. He also reiterates that she is heavily indebted and her ability to attain the card were facilitated by NRM leaning billionaire Emmanuel Butebi Ssembuusi, the father to Mityana Municipality MP Zaake Francis Butebi.
The story is still under development.
