TikToker Lands in Trouble After Recording Himself ‘Burying’ Museveni – Sent To Luzira
A popular TikToker and upcoming singer, known by his nickname Tutu The Man, has landed in serious trouble after he was arrested and charged for recording a viral video in which he was seen burying President Yoweri Museveni’s campaign poster. The shocking video, which quickly spread across social media, has sparked mixed reactions among Ugandans.
According to police, Tutu’s video was first shared on TikTok and other platforms, showing him digging a shallow grave and symbolically burying a campaign poster bearing the image of President Museveni. In the footage, he is heard making comments that authorities described as disrespectful and provocative toward the Head of State.
Police say Tutu was arrested shortly after the video went viral, following public complaints and reports from local authorities. He was later charged with offensive communication and inciting public disorder, offenses that carry serious penalties under Ugandan law. After appearing before court, he was remanded to Luzira Prison pending further investigations.
The arrest has drawn widespread attention both online and offline, with some social media users expressing support for Tutu’s right to freedom of expression, while others accused him of crossing the line of respect and decency. The phrase “Grave Mistake” has since trended on TikTok and X (Twitter) as users discuss his case.

Police spokespersons have warned Ugandans, especially young content creators, to be careful about what they post online. “Freedom of expression does not mean freedom to insult or provoke. Some actions can amount to crimes against the State,” one officer said. “Mocking national symbols or leaders is unacceptable.”
Sources close to Tutu said the artist had not intended to cause political controversy. According to his friends, the act was “a form of creative satire” meant to gain online attention rather than insult the President. However, authorities insist that such acts undermine national respect and cannot be taken lightly.
This is not the first time Ugandan youth have been arrested over online content seen as offensive to the government. In recent years, several influencers, comedians, and artists have faced similar charges after posting videos or songs criticizing leaders or government policies. The case of Tutu The Man has once again ignited debate about social media freedom and censorship in Uganda.

As Tutu sits behind bars in Luzira Prison, his followers and fans are campaigning online for his release under the hashtag #FreeTutuTheMan. Some have called on authorities to show leniency, arguing that the young TikToker’s actions were immature but not criminal. Others believe his arrest sends a strong message that respect for national leaders must be upheld.
Meanwhile, court officials have confirmed that Tutu will reappear before court in the coming weeks for mention of his case. Whether he will face a harsh sentence or be pardoned remains uncertain. For now, his viral stunt — meant to entertain — has instead buried his freedom, at least temporarily.
