Minister Babalanda Denies Involvement in Kololo Property Grab Allegations

The Minister for the Presidency, Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda, has rejected recent malicious claims linking her to a property grab in Kololo, Kampala. The allegations, circulated in an article by Uganda Today on 4th September 2025, as well as in audio recordings, fabricated WhatsApp messages, and manipulated photographs, falsely connect her to one Mr. Numembi David Kenneth.

Speaking to the media, Minister Babalanda condemned the spread of these false and defamatory claims. She emphasized that the accusations are completely baseless and aimed at tarnishing her reputation.

“I have never been involved in any land-grabbing schemes or property disputes, in Kololo or elsewhere,” she stated firmly.

The Minister also addressed claims suggesting she disrespects the First Lady, Mama Janet Kataha Museveni, clarifying that such allegations are false.

“I hold the First Lady in the highest regard—as my mentor, a mother of the nation, and a role model. I have never demeaned her in any way,” she said.

Describing the attacks as a deliberate smear campaign, Minister Babalanda warned that such actions are meant to interfere with her ability to perform her constitutional duties. She urged anyone with a legitimate grievance about property matters to pursue them through the courts, not social media or online tabloids.

Through her legal team, she has petitioned the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) to investigate the publications, demand immediate retractions and public apologies, and pursue all available legal remedies against those responsible for spreading false claims.

“I also call on the media and the public to verify facts before publication and refrain from spreading unsubstantiated allegations,” she added.

Minister Babalanda reaffirmed her commitment to serving the people of Uganda and stated that baseless attacks will not distract her from her work or tarnish her legacy.
