“We Ask Bobi Wine Not To Bring Back MP Serukenya, The Moment He Won Elections, His Office Stayed Closed Until This Campaign Season” Locals Of Makindye-Ssabagabo Cry Out
Residents of Makindye-Ssabagabo are calling on the National Unity Platform (NUP) and its leader, Bobi Wine, to step in and support Hon. Joseph Mukasa instead of the current MP, David Serukenya. According to locals, their confidence in Serukenya has completely faded since he assumed the parliamentary seat. They claim that immediately after the elections, his office remained closed for months, making it impossible for residents to access services or raise concerns.
Many say Serukenya has been largely silent on issues affecting the constituency, including key matters in Parliament. His absence has left residents feeling ignored and voiceless. In contrast, Hon. Joseph Mukasa has been actively involved in the community long before the campaign season began. Residents describe Mukasa as a leader who walks among the people, listens to their challenges, and provides real support, making a tangible difference in their daily lives.
Over the years, Mukasa has extended assistance through his NGO, HELP Uganda, engaging in a range of community outreach programs. He has visited neighborhoods such as Zanta, Kanaaba, Busabala, Seguku, and Kigo, distributing essentials like bread, water, soda, and soap to families in need. His support also includes backing small local initiatives and private projects, demonstrating care for those often overlooked. By channeling his efforts through HELP Uganda, Mukasa’s work is seen as genuine community service rather than political campaigning.
Church groups and other community organizations have also benefited from Mukasa’s involvement. His fundraising initiatives and hands-on approach have helped unite communities, earning him admiration and loyalty from residents. Many now believe Mukasa is not only capable of representing them in Parliament but also able to implement practical solutions to improve everyday life.
The stark contrast between the two leaders has prompted locals to shift their support to Mukasa. While Serukenya is criticized for being absent and unresponsive, Mukasa is praised for being present, reliable, and proactive. For many, this demonstrates a true servant leader who understands and addresses the struggles of the people he represents.
As one resident said, “We do not want an MP who disappears after winning elections. We want someone who walks with us, speaks for us, and brings real change. That is why we are choosing Joseph Mukasa.”
Residents of Makindye-Ssabagabo are now urging Bobi Wine and the NUP to take their concerns seriously and support Mukasa in future political endeavors, hoping for leadership that genuinely serves the people rather than appearing only during campaigns.
