Why Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga Remains the Ideal Choice for NRM’s 2nd Vice Chairperson (Female)

Why Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga Remains the Ideal Choice for NRM’s 2nd Vice Chairperson (Female)

As the National Resistance Movement (NRM) prepares for another important Central Executive Committee (CEC) election, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga remains the clear and trusted choice for Second National Vice Chairperson (Female). Her decades of dedicated service, her tested loyalty, and her deep connection with the people make her a leader whose presence in the top ranks of the party is not just valuable but essential.

Kadaga’s political journey is defined by groundbreaking leadership. She became Uganda’s first female Speaker of Parliament, serving from 2011 to 2021 after ten years as Deputy Speaker. During this time, she steered Parliament with firmness, fairness, and skill, earning respect across party lines. Her steady leadership ensured stability during periods of political tension, showing the maturity and composure that have always been her hallmark.

Her loyalty to the NRM has been consistent and unshakable. In 2021, when she lost the Speakership, Kadaga did not turn away from the party. Instead, she accepted new responsibilities as First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for East African Community Affairs, and continued to serve as Second Vice Chairperson (Female). In doing so, she placed party unity above personal ambition, proving once again her commitment to the NRM’s values and mission.

Kadaga also brings a wealth of professional expertise and international recognition. A lawyer by training, with qualifications from Makerere University and the University of Zimbabwe, she has represented Uganda in global forums such as the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. In her ministerial role, she continues to champion regional integration, economic cooperation, and trade harmonization within the East African Community—priorities that directly strengthen Uganda and align with the NRM’s regional vision.

Equally important is her strong connection to the grassroots. In Kamuli and across the Busoga subregion, Kadaga has built a legacy of practical, people-centered leadership. She has initiated SACCOs for former LC3 Chairpersons, promoted the Village Agricultural Model to improve household incomes, and supported women entrepreneurs through GROW Uganda. Her tireless efforts in empowering women, improving education, expanding access to healthcare, and fostering community development reflect her commitment to uplifting ordinary Ugandans.

At this defining moment in the party’s journey, the NRM requires leaders with experience, discipline, loyalty, and vision. Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga embodies all of these. She seeks re-election not out of entitlement, but out of duty to her party and her country.

As delegates prepare to cast their votes, the question is not whether Kadaga deserves to be retained. The real question is whether the NRM can afford to lose a leader of her caliber. With her unmatched record, grassroots strength, and unwavering loyalty, Rebecca Kadaga remains the most capable and indispensable choice for Second National Vice Chairperson (Female).
