From Parliament to Power!! My Path to the Cabinet

My name is Hon. Michael Kiggundu, and I hail from Masaka, a region known for its scenic beauty, cultural legacy, and determined people. I was brought up in a simple home by my mother, a fruit vendor at the local market, who raised me single-handedly. From early on, I felt a deep urge to serve others and always dreamed of representing my community. That dream turned into reality when I was elected as a Member of Parliament. But little did I know, joining Parliament was only the start of a far tougher climb.

Although I remained committed, outspoken, and loyal to my political party, something always seemed to stand in my way. I saw others—some with less background—being appointed as ministers while I stayed just an MP. For three full years, I gave everything I had. I showed up for every key meeting, played a major role in legislative debates, and stayed close to influential leaders. Yet, my situation didn’t change. I began questioning myself. Was I unlucky?
