My name is Paul Kato, and I’m employed at a logistics company in Kampala, Uganda. I began working as an office assistant in 2017. At the start, I was full of optimism. I believed that with hard work, respect for my superiors, and loyalty to the company, I would eventually move up. But the years that followed proved to be incredibly frustrating.

Whenever a promotion was on the table, I was never considered. Colleagues who joined after me advanced in their careers, while I remained stuck in the same role with a low salary. I thought improving my education might help, so I enrolled in evening classes. Still, nothing changed.
