Lwemiyaga NRM Primaries!! Police Officers Filmed Dancing And Jubilating After Rwashande’s Win Against Ssekikubo – Why The Election Was Unfair
A video has surfaced online showing senior Ugandan police officers celebrating moments after Brig. Gen. (Rtd) Emmanuel Rwashande was declared winner of the NRM primaries for MP in Lwemiyaga Constituency.
The footage has since stirred mixed reactions among Ugandans, with many questioning the neutrality of the country’s police force.
The NRM primaries, which took place on Thursday, ended with Rwashande defeating the incumbent MP Theodore Ssekikubo in a tense contest marred by chaos and violent clashes between rival supporters. Several people sustained injuries during the process.
Shortly after the results were announced, a video emerged showing acting deputy director of the Traffic Police, Afande Norman Musinga, abandoning his desk duties to dance in celebration.
In the same clip, other senior officers are seen clapping, laughing, and swaying along with joy as they react to the news of Rwashande’s victory.
Musinga, who previously served as Regional Police Commander for Busoga East, appeared visibly pleased by the outcome, a reaction that has not gone unnoticed by the public.
While some Ugandans online found the scene entertaining and harmless, many others condemned it, accusing the officers of engaging in partisan politics while in uniform.
The video has reignited debate around the political neutrality of Uganda’s security forces and the conduct expected from those in uniform during election-related events.
