Sironko RDC’s Office in Trouble Over Partisan Display

The Office of the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) in Sironko has come under heavy criticism after political posters of Hajji Lumolo and his daughter were seen displayed inside the office. This incident has stirred anger among locals and raised questions about the office’s political neutrality.

The RDC, Balwaniregha Denis Ephraim, is expected to represent the President in the district without showing favoritism. His duties include overseeing government programs, coordinating services, maintaining peace and security, and ensuring all government activities are implemented fairly.

As stated in Article 203 of the 1995 Constitution, RDCs must monitor the performance of government services, chair the District Security Committee, and carry out tasks assigned by the President or Parliament. The Local Government Act of 1997 also emphasizes that RDCs must be non-partisan and neutral while performing their duties.

However, the act of displaying campaign materials in a government office appears to contradict these legal and constitutional responsibilities. Many residents believe the display shows political bias and weakens public trust in the office’s role during the election period.

In reaction, the people of Sironko are calling for the immediate transfer of RDC Balwaniregha Denis Ephraim. They say his actions have damaged the credibility of the office and created an uneven political playing field ahead of elections.

Local leaders and citizens alike are urging the central government to step in and take action. They argue that public offices must not be used to promote political candidates and should remain spaces that serve all citizens equally, regardless of political background.
