Muhoozi Kainerugaba Sets Conditions On What Besigye Should Do To Avoid Being Killed

Uganda’s First Son, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has announced that he is willing to forgive opposition figure Dr. Kizza Besigye.

However, he has set one key condition before granting the pardon, a move that has sparked widespread debate.

Taking to social media, Gen Muhoozi stated, “And don’t worry. I will forgive KB. But first, I will meet him and he explains himself.”

The statement has drawn mixed reactions, with some Ugandans questioning why Besigye, a longtime government critic, would need to justify himself.

Others view it as an opportunity for dialogue between the two political figures.Dr. Besigye, a former presidential candidate and vocal critic of President Yoweri Museveni’s government, has not publicly responded to Muhoozi’s remarks.

Their political rivalry has lasted for decades, with Besigye frequently accusing the government of suppressing opposition voices.

Supporters of Gen Muhoozi, who has been positioning himself as a future leader, see his statement as a sign of political maturity and reconciliation.

However, critics argue that he has no authority to “forgive” an opposition leader, especially without clarifying the wrongdoing.

As Ugandans continue to react, it remains unclear whether Besigye will accept Muhoozi’s condition or if the two leaders will meet.
