Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania Ready for CHAN 2025 as CAF Confirms New Dates
Kenya’s Local Organising Committee for the African Nations Championship (CHAN), led by Chairman Nicholas Musonye and CEO Myke Rabar, has expressed confidence in Tanzania’s preparations for the tournament.
The officials wrapped up their visit to Dar es Salaam on Wednesday, where they toured the competition and training venues. They also attended the signing of a sponsorship extension between the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and TotalEnergies, a French petroleum company.
CAF announced that the CHAN 2025, co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, will begin on August 2, with the final scheduled for August 30.
“We are pleased with the collaboration between Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania in organizing this tournament,” Musonye remarked. “During our inspection of Dar es Salaam, including the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium and various training sites, we found that everything is progressing well. Even if the tournament had been held in February as originally planned, we would have been ready. Now, it’s about putting the finishing touches in place and promoting the event.”
CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe confirmed that the executive committee met in Rabat on Monday to discuss updates on both the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and CHAN, with the tournament now set to begin on August 2 and conclude on August 30, 2025.
